So, to summarize, the errors you were facing were because of change jvm.vendor
in 
JDK7<http://sunnytalkstech.blogspot.com/2011/08/maven-dependency-for-toolsjar-in-jdk7.html>and
later a bug in JDK7... while in Ubuntu because of openjdk.
