Hi Zakia, If you are only trying to develop a module for OpenMRS, particularly if it is only for a university degree then you don't need to get the main openmrs project to build (in fact you are better not trying to use the latest in trunk, you are better using a tested release version). Simply go to the OpenMRS wiki and download a pre-built war (see the implementers instructions on how to install OpenMRS on the wiki). You can then check out the Basic Module to get an idea of the architecture needed to build your own module. To test your module you simply upload it via the admin page of your running instance of OpenMRS.
Hope that helps, Lara ________________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of Zakia Salod [[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2011 11:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [OPENMRS-DEV] Developers Forum call this week? P.S. I've been following the Step by Step instructions on the OpenMRS site, but the svn is giving errors, and am stuck at this point now. Also, am a bit concerned too because I've been doing research and in order to develop using OpenMRS, one needs to know Java and XML? I only know Java, havent done XML in my Computer Science degree which I had completed last year. Thank You in Advance. But see Sir, we have to create our own module to transfer forms and patient data from one OpenMRS implementation to another. Its a project for university. I havent used OpenMRS before and am new to it - everyone in our class are not familiar with OpenMRS. I've got Java and MySQL and Eclipse Indigo installed. The plugins are installed into the Eclipse as well - but the svn is giving problems - its still showing errors and I have no clue how to resolve them - there are errors on 4 folders. Please Help. Sorry for the trouble. On 4 October 2011 08:40, jriley <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: What are my options for customizing patient registration? What are the tradeoffs? Can I still make use of modules? I particularly need the ID Gen module and Address Hierarchy. Some choices I know about: * tweak some of the settings in global properties to make fields appear or disappear in the regular create patient * HTML Forms has a tag that will create a patient. The page will be good-looking and easy to modify. Can I still make use of, say, the ID Gen module? * I could make a patient xform. The page will be more compatible with mobile, and I can make changes with the xform designer. How about those modules? * I could write a registration module from scratch. ( Is MDR-TB an example of that?) How vulnerable is it to breaking when I upgrade core? Is it a lot of extra work for not much benefit? Can I make a couple portlets and insert them on the reg page? Things I'd like to accomplish: * swap the order of given name/ family name from the Find page to registration -- family name comes first here, and the form populates with the second name * make it easier to create a caretaker on the reg page * (ideal) add a dropdown with a couple of encounter forms and on Save, immediately go to the add encounter form. Alternately, ask for a few important values, and create an encounter behind the scenes with those values filled in. When 1.9 comes out, automatically create a visit on save. Will that give you enough to discuss?
