Hi Erick;
If you copied a mysql data folder form another server, you need to find out if
the correct directory /var/lib/mysqld/ exists and give ownership to mysql. Try
this command : chown -R mysql.mysql mysql.
I hope this helps.

Subject: [OPENMRS-DEV] Mysql Error

Hi
When connecting to mysql i get the following error
Error 2002 (Hy000): can't connect to local mysql server through soket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysld.sock' (111)
How can I solve this error.

Looking at the mysql error logs i get the following
 Error /usr/sbin/mysqld can't create.write to file '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'
