OpenLMIS is a software development initiative focused on health system supply chains in low-income countries. It seeks to create a logistics management information system that collects data efficiently and reliably, operates in a variety of environments with different levels of network connectivity, and communicates with other components of the health information system. The initiative utilizes a practical, inexpensive approach to improving the distribution of medical goods, leveraging open standards, a community-based open-source approach, and available information technologies.
