I want to highlight something that Daniel mentioned with characteristic
understatement...

We're *very excited* to announce that with this beta release, we have a
new, simplified process for testing the new version of OpenMRS with
*your* existing
implementation's data and configuration.

It's as easy as:

   1. Get the OpenMRS 1.9 Beta standalone. (You can run this anywhere that
can access your production machine via the network.)
   2. Get the Release Testing Helper module, and install it (temporarily)
on the production machine whose database you want to test the new OpenMRS
   version with
   3. The first time you run the standalone, choose the Advanced option,
and the Test Install option, and enter the URL of your production server,
   plus the username and password.

At this point OpenMRS will automatically fetch 100 patients worth of data
from your production machine, as well as all its omod files.

This should make it significantly easier for implementation to test out
OpenMRS 1.9 Beta, and we're really excited to hear how it goes.
