OpenMRS trunk build fine on JDK 7 update 2... i.e. 1.7.0_02

That line which is failing for you, works fine for me. We've used generics
in that code and it is known to behave differently in different versions of
JDK.
I suggest that you use the latest release of JDK6. As you'll see in the
link below, Eclipse and JDK seem to give different compilation errors
