For tomcat 7 and tomcat 6 lower than v6.0.30 (due to the EL Spec 2.2<http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/mrel/jsr245/index.html> not allowing use of Java keywords), the way to deal with this:
1.) Create/add the following to CATALINA_OPTS env var with the value: "-Dorg.apache.el.parser.SKIP_IDENTIFIER_CHECK=true" 2.)
