OpenHatch.org is a group that promotes participation in open source
projects. Their site includes "training missions" that are hands-on
tutorials for open source development tools. There are tutorials for using
subversion and git, and for making patch files. It's a nice way to try
tools without messing up the code you're working on.

The tutorials are at http://openhatch.org/missions/ .

Cheers-
Janet
