What is happening with this issue? Is there any progress on the matter?
I've been a bit busy the past week...
are you happy with the "NameFinderME.dropOverlappingSpans" method ad how
it reasons about what span to keep and what to throw away?

not really...this method is only concerned with offsets and ignores
the type...it will do the exact same thing regardless of whether the 2
spans are of the same type or not...basically it's doing the
simplistic thing you suggested this morning and keeping the earliest
span.
