FYI, and also: anyone interested in attending this meeting? -Jason ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Nancy Ide <i...@cs.vassar.edu> Date: Thu, Oct 31, 2013 at 12:09 PM Subject: ISO exchange protocols group To: Jason Baldridge <jasonbaldri...@gmail.com> Cc: Ide Nancy <i...@cs.vassar.edu>
Hi Jason, I am heading up an ISO working group to develop exchange protocols for web services for NLP tools. The underlying motivation is that we need these for our NSF-funded LAPPS project (http://lapps.anc.org), in which we are wrapping NLP tools for delivery via the LAPPS Grid web service platform. OpenNLP is one of the first sets of tools we are including. A preliminary document (which needs to be updated a bit to reflect discussion at the last meeting) is at http://www.anc.org/LAPPS/EP/Meeting-2013-09-26-Pisa/ep-draft.pdf, if you are interested. There is a meeting of this group on Dec 12-13 at Brandeis University outside Boston, at which I hope to include major US developers. I Know that you yourself may not be able to attend, but if possible we'd like to have an appropriate representative from OpenNLP present so that we can get input and reactions. So far the people who have attended meetings have all been Europeans, who are actively involved in several projects directly related to this work, but it has been very difficult to reach out to the US community. Please let me know if you or someone else from OpenNLP would be interested in attending the meeting. There is no commitment to be involved in any way in ISO--the main reason I am doing this as an ISO group is to ensure maximum outreach. (You are of course welcome to joint the group and participate by attending meetings and/or being on the email list.)
