Hi all, in the context of my recent message to the list [1], another roadmap related topic came to my mind: When should we publish the 3.0.0 (GA) release?
Personally, I think we should definitely bring out another milestone release - that is M4 - before shipping 3.0.0. I'd like to hear your opinions if (a) further milestones (M5, M6…) are necessary for the community (ecosystem) to adapt their projects, or if (b) M4 will be the last on our list. Primary questions: (a) Do we reach consensus that M4 should be the last milestone before 3.0.0? (b) Schedule and options that I see: - b1: Release M4 until end of June 2026 and ship 3.0.0 within July 2026 before the summer break - b2: Ship the new stable release some time after M4, for instance at end of summer, e.g. during September 2026 - b3: Ship another milestone, mature further and ship 3.0.0 around November 2026 - b4: Even later than b1/b2/b3 - reasons to be outlined (c) Does anyone of the active committers / PMC members have open stuff or wishes to address for - c1: M4? - c2: 3.0.0 (GA) I'd like to consolidate at this point in time and focus our efforts on finally shipping a new stable release. It’s now to check JIRA, create issues or bring existing issues to our attention to look into. Open for others to add thoughts and related aspects to this discussion.
