But we still have the problem of losing the images in blog.

I've always preferred to store images elsewhere (like my people.apache.org account or Flickr) for convenience, not stability. Unfortunately, it seems that https://blogs.apache.org/OOo/ is still having issues (I now see a 502 error). So it's probably restored, including images, but still unreliable.

I wonder if it is
worth splitting off from the blogs.apache.org installation and going
with our own WordPress install, maybe at blog.openoffice.org?

This is a different issue. The incident sooner or later will be over and blogs.apache.org restored. But then, creating blog.openoffice.org will have the same pros and cons it always had: - Pro: more visibility for the OpenOffice blog; much nicer look and feel (whatever we install will look much nicer and more modern than Roller) - Con: further segregates OpenOffice from Apache; needs system administration work that would have to be taken care of by the project. - Unknown: Roller dies when we make a major announce; we don't know what a different solution would do.

I don't have an answer here. I'd love to avoid further segregating us from the rest of Apache, but I'd also love to have proper tools. There were talks, months/years ago, about replacing Roller altogether. This might be the best way, but we would need to check if someone is actually working on this.

Regards,
  Andrea.
