Our ZLIB is 1.2.7 from 2012.
The most recent version is 1.2.11 from 2017 [1].

yes, starting the update on trunk would show how good the idea was. ;-)
If even an outdated compiler like MSVC 2008 already complains about
deprecated code it may be time!
But it has to be done by someone else... ;-)
