I'm thinking of putting together a patch that would:
- Add "RealMedia", "rm;rmvb;rmm;ra;ram" to MediaWindow::getMediaFilters in avmedia/source/viewer/mediawindow.cxx
Having Real support within our media player solution would be great, of course.
- Change avmedia/source/inc/mediamisc.hxx to define: AVMEDIA_MANAGER_JAVA_SERVICE_NAME
AVMEDIA_MANAGER_HELIX_SERVICE_NAME
... instead of just AVMEDIA_MANAGER_SERVICE_NAME
- Change MediaWindow::isMediaURL in avmedia/source/viewer/mediawindow.cxx to iterate over the managers (Java, DirectX, Helix), trying to create a player with each.
I'm not sure if hard coding such an iteration would be the best solution. Best thing would be to add the available services to the config and to dynamically iterate over them based on the config entries. I already thought about this but didn't realize such a solution yet. Since I expect to have more backends like yours in the future, this is definitely a must to be implemented.
... which should enable a helix multimedia plugin for impress.
Can you tell us something about this plugin, please? Does this component already exist and are you willing to contribute it?
Is this something that would be accepted into OpenOffice?
I'd be very glad to work on this with you, although I'm quite unsure about the timeframe. OOo 2.0 may be a little bit unrealistic having development, documentation and QA resources in mind, but 2.0.1 might be realistic. Would this be feasible for you?
