Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to implement line numbering beside a table? I am sure that there are issues for very complex tables, but if I wanted to implement this (e.g. for tables without split cells and exotic alignments), where should I start looking?
Has anyone else ever gotten this to work?
Thanks, -Aidan
Hi Aidan,
I assume that you are new to posting here, because you did not create a new post, but rather started with a reply from my post. The only problem with this, is that the message is still related to my original post and will stay a thread of my message. (In other words, people who are interested in your post may miss it because they are not interested in mine).
OK, that said.....
I do not understand what you want to do. You said "Line numbering BESIDE" a table. I assume that this means something like:
1 Table here NOT a table 2 Table here
Or, do you mean
1 not a table 2 not a table 3 table here 4 not a table
I create captions that number my tables, but these captions are not beside the table.
No, he's not that new. Remember "first" vs "firstly" ? ;-)
Now seriously, would creating a column to the (far) left containing line numbers be any help?
Of course you would no longer have a table without split cells. But then, is such a table not
in fact a lot of text with a lot of "new line" ? Would it not be feasible then to have some code
that inserts incremented numbers at (somehow defined) "new lines" ? If I'm wrong, please
excuse my ignorance. As I have said already in another reply I don't do much with text files.
Still, I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Gerrit Jasper.
