tools->options->load/save->Microsoft Office enable the L and S for
MathType to OpenOffice.org Math

starmath/source/mathtype.cxx

The "ms equation editor" is actually an old version of mathtype, see
www.mathtype.com for details and their SDK which includes the file
format specification if you need to further enhance the filter.
