I did not dive too deeply into the articles you linked, but as a sporadic UI developer, I would highly welcome *any* change which allows us to make OOo UI design less cumbersome. It cannot get any worse than the current situation, which very obviously dates back from the last century ... Your "springs", as far as I understood them so far :), sound very promising to me, and I would vote for investigating this approach further ...
