I played with apple "pages" recently on someone's mac. http://www.apple.com/iwork/pages/
The keynote presentation package is pretty nice, OOo does pretty much everything you'd want, except keynote has some snazzy full slide animations which are kind of slick. Pages doesn't really cut it as a word processor, but is kind of neat as a simple desktop-publishing kind of thing. But in both cases the UI is pretty neat and straight forward, and worth looking at to get a fresh non MSOffice/WordPerfect etc way of looking at office productivity apps. e.g. I like the simple but effective select from template previews to get someone started on word processor document. And the impress style scrolling pageview for the wordprocessor quick page select panel.
