Matthew et al;
namely: 1) what is a string, 2) where to get md5sum.exe, and 3) how to run it, considering that many average Windows users do not know how to use command line programs.
Guys, I am an aussie software engineer and think Matthew makes a valid point about users and the technical savvy.
OO has to make its product compliant across a range of platforms, which equates to a varying user knowledge base. The lowest common dumbominator seems to be the averge MS user, who, as Matthew pointed out, "don't know one end of a dog's bowl from the other" (Aussie speak) (ie don't know how an engine works but still drive)
I concur with his point, OO may have to consider the insertion of the saftey net outlined into their product to simplify the downloading and installation process.
