No, how about the current release candidate, RC4, aka. OOB680_m5.
This will most propably not fix your problem, but configure should
be able to work with the 2006 DirectX SDK.

$ ls -l /home/build/oo | grep default_images
show?
And what is the result of:
$ /usr/bin/perl -e 'if( -x "/home/build/oo/default_images"){ print "OK";};'
