Perharps we should add a sentence at the end of the system settings specification to aknowledge this situation: "Some system settings might be read indirectly by other parts of OpenOffice.org. For example, the colors defined in KDE are read indirectly by the KDE VCL plugin. In such situations, there might be no UNO API to read these settings from applications."
