Hi

my last relpy. The CSpace developer are busy releasing the next version of
CSapce, I though will tell them about the discussion here. But don´t hope to
get support from there. Cspace is free and you could use it.
Once again: yes it is more a protocol and a messenger application. As well
decentral, belonging to the users and not to any company or any other server.
This is the potential and please see this and forget about competitors in the
IM market, therer is no competitor to this p2p protocol.

>OK, justification for an IM application would be "to send files >between
>users". That makes sense.
>That does not mean OOo needs to ship this IM application.

right.

>I do not agree. If users want a program to chat, they can >download the one
>they like. Not get one imponed by OpenOffice.org.

As it is a protokol and microsoft as well is integratin thier p2p bittorrent
like system into the operating system vista, it is no wrong to make this
messenger with p2p protocol shipped with the office suite, as desktop users
need to commumicate to others, we had this already.

>But trying to make it a standard
with the help of OOo is not fair for its competitors. You would better try to
promote it by letting the people know about it.

Yes, CSpace needs the big brand OO. This woudl make CSpace big, This is as well
intended, as it is democratic and p2p and serveless and no advertisement and no
company behind it. I want that and Office Suite users need commuinication tool.

>In any case, CSpace is licensed under the GPL, they would have to
>>dual-license
>to both GPL and LGPL to be able to be bundled with OOo...

Well, many ways: a subdirectory path could be closed source , Lgfpl or only GPl
or whatever, as well we can ask CSpace for Lgpl.
All we can do, it only has to be managed.

> CSpace source code has to be
QA'ed, adapted to OOo codestyle, refactored for integration in OOo,
etc...
This HUGE workload could be done :
- by the OOo devs. >
Anyway that would make CSpace an OOo component, and not a stand-alone
application anymore.

This was the request !

>But I'm sure 99%
of OOo users already have an IM client installed on their computer,
and really won't mind using it for sharing documents.

99 % have microsoft,. why do we need OO ?

>So, it could be implemented directly into OOo, with _no_ >reference to any
>Instant Messaging program at all.

You do not get it, It is not a Instant Messenger out of the competition market,
it is a userbased free p2p protocol! not belonging to any company or server or
central authority.

If you understand this, then there is no question why not MSN instead of
CSpace. CSapce is usersbased revolution liek gnutella.

>An addon could be a first step.

Then just do it.

I am not quite sure, if the most loud people saying no maybe are not interested
in this idea... we will see.

The discussion was long enough to have all read and tested it.

Do what you want. If you want me to be recruted for organization, documentation
and project managemtn, write to me personally, as I unsubscribe from this list.

Bye.
