As announced by Michael Bemmer at OOoCon 2006 we will provide OOXML import filters. The Word filter will be part of our new combined word filter component for all Word file formats (doc,rtf,docx). I assume that we will start with the docx stuff early in 2007. Until then we hope to have the infrastructure and large parts of the conversion part for the binary filter ready. All this will just be reused by the docx filter.
