Well, kind of. If one instance obtained the lock and saves other instances can get in trouble if they try to reload something from the document in between. This lets me think about my proposal to always create a copy of the original file and open this one. I agree with your proposal - I just wanted to see that we agree that sometimes saving without warnings is not possible and that this would be OK.
