Yes, my jre 1.4.2_13 works. I have run the JREProperties.class and it works.

Have you tried if the JRE 1.4.2_13 is really functional. If you have an arbitrary java program at hand then just run it. Make sure you use the correct java executable from your 1.4.2 installation. You could also run the JREProperties program from OOo/program/JREProperties.class. This should print out a lot of numbers. But error messages shoud stick out.
