That's fairly shallow - any chance to get more than just an executive
summary? And BTW, since they state that - has anyone received patches
from them yet?
Patches are there - e.g. in PDF. Many of them just do proper
initializations, fix warnings, prevent potential conversion issues,
rounding etc.
My impression was that only some of the problems described in the
quality report were reflected in the patches (the ones where solutions
are more or less obvious).
What I liked in the report (among other things) were the possibility to
see the numbers how often deprecated constructs like /tools/String,
SvPtrArray and similar are still in use.
I sent them (Miklos Banai from Multiracio and Rudolf Ferenc from Szeged
university) a few comments, mainly including these points:
- Can we get the complete data? (Thorstens question)
- An issue with possibly duplicate counting, when declarations occur
on solver as well as in their native directory.
- Can we exclude third party code to calculate more meaningful (for
OOo-community) numbers?
- Suggestion to use the OOo coding standards
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Cpp_Coding_Standards)
as the ruleset to check against.
- Suggestion to search for circular dependencies, as the provided
data give a hint that should be possible with the tool they use.
Rudolf Ferenc answered, expressing thankfulness for the comments and
that they would study them further. I hope they will come back to this
list with their ideas.
Best regards,
Nikolai
