Great news--congratulations! I've been waiting to give it a test drive;
I'm sure a lot of other users have as well.
Two questions:
1) What is the spec for backward compatibility? If something from my
existing document doesn't work, or works differently (e.g default
colors), is that a bug? Should it be reported?
You can find the specifications for the chart here:

In general the new chart is not pixel identically to the old one. The
layout was improved, what is impossible without changes.
Regarding the colors - existing documents should not be influenced by
the new default colors. Only newly created charts should be effected.

2) Where should feedback or comments go? Is UX involved?
Apart from issue tracker, I think the mailing lists
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] are the
right places for discussions about the chart as the chart is a submodul
of the graphics project.
