I'm not sure if I understood completely what you are trying to achieve:
are you looking for a way to create document templates, partially(?)
filled with content from a data base?

In general OpenOffice.org documents can be manipulated by scripts
(Basic, JavaScript, BeanShell) or programming languages (C++, Java, C#,
Python). Every part of a document is accessible this way and you can
construct any kind of text, spreadsheet, drawing and presentation
document you like. OpenOffice.org also comes equipped with a lot of
database connectors ("drivers") that let you access databases with e.g.
JDBC, ODBC, MySQL or our built-in database hsqldb. Support for templates
and languages is also available, both in the document and in the API.

Ciao,
Mathias
