OpenOffice.org is mainly written in C++ , but some part use C , Java , Python, bash, perl and Obj-C

IMHO, you need to understand some points before. Where is what in the code, what does everything, know the Coding Guidelines .. etc

I'd suggest you to have a look at the wiki first, and then join us on IRC: discuss in real time is better for helping newcomers. The OpenOffice.org wiki starts : http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page

And you can join us on IRC , e.g. using #education.openoffice.org channel ( server is irc.freenode.net )

I won't be present on the channel before two hours, but I see people like Cedric Bosdonnat who can probably provide you some good advices. Just ask !

Then, once you'll have a better understanding about OpenOffice.org source code and project, I think you'll be able to start coding.

Regards,
Eric Bachard
