How about use of --with-jdk-home=/usr/j2se or like that?

find /usr/j* -name jni.h
/usr/j2se/include/jni.h
/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.5.0/include/jni.h
/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.6.0/include/jni.h

I recommend JDK 1.4.1_03 since it has been absolutely used
by the release engineer of OpenOffice.org for years.
