Yes, we are currently doing some code refactoring in Writer to set all the various new features that rely on a reference to a range of text on a more solid ground. These are or will be: - "real" bookmarks - text input fields as implemented by Florian - "text meta" elements in ODF 1.2 metadata - meta text fields in ODF 1.2 metadata - the planned notes on ranges for issue #5487 (and may be some more I forgot here). The code needed the refactoring to stay readable and maintainable even with all the new features. Björn Michaelsen is doing the refactoring and hopefully he will finish soon. After integrating this we have planned to adapt the input field implementation and start the other new ones, including the "notes on text ranges". > So discussion should take place on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list, maybe > mba > can comment on the current status. Yes, [EMAIL PROTECTED] surely is the best place. > In my opinion, this is not the easiest issue to start, but of course you > can always prove me wrong ;-) I agree with Max, this is an interesting but challenging task. Leandro, in case you want to work on it anyway (or any other task), I will support you as well as all the older Writer developers will do. I think that also includes Max, who implemented all the cool stuff in our new notes feature and roughly one and a half year ago was in the same situation as you are now (how time flies...). If you want, you can send me a mail ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) so that we can talk about the details, the necessary programming skills, where to find documentation etc., all that perhaps most readers of the mailing list will find boring.
