last year we initiated the bug bounty program (http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/BugBountyProgram and references below). Obviously we failed in spreading the information about this program, the feedback was very low.

Before we extend the program we want to be sure to make it this time better, I'm thinking of:
* promoting it on the main page (www.openoffice.org)
* add an item on contributung page (contributing.openoffice.org)
* encourage people to blog about it
* many other things

are there any volunteers available interested in spreading the news ?
Are there any other ideas to make the Program more attractive ?
or should we stop this effort because it's hopeless ?
...

couple of random points which come into my mind:

- although I even read lots of OOo mailing lists and blogs etc. I never new if the bounty program actually started or not, so I guess noone actually knew about it

I can't remember what had been done.
But obviously, marketing should be planned and done better than last year. I am prepared to invest some time for that.
And no doubt some others at the marketing project as well.

- when telling my roommate about it, he thought it was a great idea, as do I, so I would definitly try it for real again after a lot of promoting and press releases

- have a prominent link to the predone VirtualBox ubuntu images of cl, so the issue of getting the thing compiled would be already solved.

- have some really easy bugs available for fixing to get some results and try to keep those developers withing the project (last time I checked, I thought they were pretty hard for newcomers)

Maybe it is an idea to promote clearly how people can get support, if they need it, to make the start.

- no idea if it makes a difference, but at least in Germany there is university exam period everywhere, so I would probably wait till April with the restart

Kindest regards,
Cor
