My name is Adam Miller. I am entering my first year of college this
august the 15th and I would like to see the opensource movement excel. I
think that I have some excellent productivity ideas. I don't know
anything about how this program is actually made, or how its put
together, but the one idea that sits on my head as having the most
potential-to modify the way documents are opened and presented to the
user of the program.
Honestly, I would really like to see this idea implemented. I know it
may be out of place for someone to suggest something to the opensource
community in an area where there might not be something like the
brainstorm area like there is for ubuntu. But I would really like to see
this implemented-if you could pass this to any one of the developers I
would greatly appreciate it.
Here's the actual idea-openoffice could use tabs (just like firefox)
rather than separate windows to present open up differet documents.
Different types would still be handled by the prospective editor, so I'm
not trying to suggest anything huge. This could possibly even fit as a
plug-in. This would reduce window usage greatly and increase
productivity capabilities. It would improve openoffice's standing as a
document writer against microsoft office as this is something that MS
office doesn't have. Additionally, it would reduce the amount of space
consumed in the window bar at the bottom of the screen (whether it be
windows or linux). I think that this could easily improve the user
ratings of the program altogether.
Please let me know if you find this suggestion useful or if you would
plan on implementing this. I actually don't know who specifically I'm
writing to I'm just trying to reach someone. Thanks, I'm looking forward
to hearing back from you!
