A separate file for the bbox definitions for Osmosis would be 'a nice to 
have', but I currently have an Excel file that produces the Osmosis 
commandline depending on the area (say: a whole country) and that works 
fine.

About polygon Garmin images: Personally I think that square or 
rectangular boundaries are sufficient.
