I think you're missing the point: I'm trying to select an area which means I click and then drag. It's thus indistinguishable from a move operation if you just look at the mouse. Since I'm selecting (typically) one quarter of the screen, I'm going over any pixel threshold that would be interesting. I'm very good with the mouse, if I could configure the selection sensetivity down I'd be happy. Currently you can click anywhere within about 10 pixels of a node or way and still select it. If I could configure that down to 5 or less I'd be happy.
