I thought it seemed a bit slower if anything...
Sure you're not just seeing the effect of the fact that it rescales
and then loads the real tiles in the background? Well at least if you
only hit zoom once it does - hit it again before it has finished
loading and it goes white and you have to wait for the tiles.
