This is exactly the kind of thing that [EMAIL PROTECTED] does: if an area is too large (too many nodes) then it splits the data up into 10 'slices' and requests those slices instead.
The default behaviour is to ask OSMXAPI in that case, not the sliced download. That is only used when explicitly configured.
