Or you swap the PDA due to mechanical problems.
It's like replacing ethernet-cable by wireless lan.
it works fine, but it's one thing more to manage and it  
makes a setup more complex.
So if you do not need a wireless solution, take cable. it  
saves cost, significant bigger deployment.

(But as the original poster does not specify for which kind  
of project he needs the gpsr for the notebook, everything is  
hypotetic.)
