this is why we have ROMA/TRAPI/etc... they're able to satisy the most common read requests. as stefan said, we're scaling out. with the added advantage that some of them aren't hosted locally and are able to stay up even if there are problems with the main site's network or power. and, as grant said, scaling out on the master DB is something that we're going to be very cautious about for the moment. there's another rule of thumb though: more spindles -> more failures ;-) cheers, matt _______________________________________________ dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev
