This brings up a small issue in the US with GNIS data import - much of which consists of nodes with feature identifiers. At one time, there was a plan to feed back node placement corrections to GNIS based on these nodes. However since many features are best rendered by creating a building or waterbody, most people will delete the node to eliminate the duplicate rendering.
