As for distance between points there are some site, I can't think of
them off the top of my head, that let you click on a map and it will
give you the distance.
Interestingly enough, on the Multimap API I originally did a scale bar
that used up basically all remaining space until someone pointed out
that they're usually "thumb" width so that you can use your thumb
multiple times to find a width.
