Hi all,

I would like to invite anyone that would like to volunteer in osm2pbf c-development to join us for a tonight coding session. I suggest #osm2pbf

We will build the basic building blocks, analyse documentation, and hopefully compair output to osmosis, in speed and what it did produce. For starters we have fast parser, so we can completely focus on compliance.

Some stuff that has to be investigated is xz (lzma); so it can be included in pbf2osm as well.

If C is not your language of preference, but you can read Scott's documentation and/or the Osmosis Java implementation, documenting the format can be a good task as well. I'm thinking about a nice DFD or Flowchart.

You can reply in private, or just come by tonight. I guess around 19:00 CET, would be a great moment to 'really' start, I'll try to have as much ready before.

Stefan
