One other thing comes to mind. The most frequent problem with my minutely Osmosis updates is that about once every 2 months it simply hangs in some sort of timeout. This must be something to do with a server hiccup, because all my machines will usually have the problem at the same time, and others around the globe have it too.
To fix that, people often run Osmosis with some sort of external watchdog that simple kills the program if it runs for more than X minutes.
