Definitely take a look at this wiki page for my project: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Safe_Routes_to_School_Mapping_Toolkit There certainly is some common ground, such as defining safe/fast/easy biking profiles, and you may be interested in biking distance maps, like you can see on that wiki page.
