We intentionally did not include any compatibility code in the
upstream version of Open vSwitch. It's intended only as a temporary
transition tool and not something that we see as the correct model
going forward.
May be i not in the trend, but this can help to switch more users to
open vswitch model in case of most people do not like to rewrite scripts
used to maintain bridges. After including compatibility layer inside
kernel - linux distro vendors may flawlessly update kernel and force
open vswith usage without thoughts about breaking somebody's bridge.
If you want to use bridge compatibility, you must use
the out of tree version.
