DPDK and netdev could make OVS standard de-facto out there, there would not be 
a single product (open and close source) with these capabilities.
I believe that a lot of us would like to hear some reason.

It seems that just no one wants to review them. Even a bug fixes.
Last time my PMD related patch was reviewed in October, after a month and two 
pings.
