there are quite a few contradicting sentences in the CDI spec and in the JSF 
spec.
See OWB-321, OWB-168, etc

Actually I don't really like the CDI @ConversationScoped because it is 
seriously flawed.

If you like a working solution, then you might take a look at Apache MyFaces 
CODI @ConversationScoped (different package, different impl)
