That's a good question. According to Maven dependency,
there exist more projects like Apache Goblin. Since Maven Central
doesn't know the unpublished dependencies, there will be more projects.

For the second questions, YES! I hope
- We can test Apache ORC 1.7.0 against them as much as possible
to make it sure because 1.7.0 has many more changes.
- We can help them upgrade to Apache ORC 1.7.0 eventually ASAP.
