I decided to send this info out in another post so it would not get lost in the previous overview.

When the conversion starts all CVS access will become read-only. Or to put it another way:

Have ALL of your CVS commits DONE before I start the conversion.

Once the repository is moved to SVN, you will have to a svn checkout to get a working copy and transfer any in-progress work to that new tree.
