Unfortunately MS Visual Studio is horrible with unix line endings (at least used to be, haven't checked the latest version). It happily opens a unix formatted file, but when you edit it, it inserts windows newlines in the middle of the file. So you end up with a mix. Yeah, maybe MS Visual Studio is not a good programmer's text editor, but it's what we use to build and debug on windows. When you happen to be in the debug window it is really tempting to edit the text then and there, rather than switch to some other editor. -- Heikki Toivonen
